While it may be simple, Simple MP3 Cutter is a pretty tight package for a free editing tool - but only when it works.
Looks like a sports car
Loading up your MP3 audio in Simple MP3 Cutter marks the full track on two individual timelines that are measured down to the millisecond. One track marks the start point of the clip you hope to make, while the second marks a finish point - easy to understand, and very accurate.
A preview option allows you to check the selected audio before you snip it down to size. There are even a handful of render options to juggle with the quality of the audio and to change the audio codec if you want to branch out from MP3.
Handles like a bus
Unfortunately Simple MP3 Cutter is incredibly temperamental. When the program actually managed to successfully load, I was forced to wait for long period to get any kind of response, even when performing the simplest tasks such as searching for audio.
Then - if I were lucky enough to reach a point where everything was loaded and ready, with start and end points marked - the preview would proceed to hiccup its way through the selected area of audio, making it last 3x longer than was intended.
Technical loss
It’s a shame, because otherwise Simple MP3 Cutter is a streamlined nice looking program with some nice features (like the ability to upload your clips to Facebook). Unfortunately, its technical flaws and instabilities make it impossible to recommend.
